Arts Education SIG

Formed in 2007, SITE's Arts Education SIG addresses the role of art teachers in action- and body-related types of classroom teaching, using digital technology inspired by contemporary media artists.

SITE's Arts Education SIG will make a contribution to integrate creative approaches of digital media art in the education of art teachers.

Art teachers, open for the creative use of digital technology, are perfect to be mediators for interdisciplinary teaching approaches. As experts in multimodal learning and experts in reflecting the societal phenomena at large, they are the best to encourage teaching in multidisciplinary teams of teachers.

Whether creating mobile learning games in the field using mobile phones or creating interactive installations integrating web 2.0 technologies, creating digital augmented multimodal learning spaces, where artistic as well as any skills can be taught in, will be the domain of art teachers in the future.
