Development of Future Faculty SIG
The mission of this SIG is to facilitate and support the professional development of those interested in technology and the preparation of future instructors in higher education. This includes graduate students, as well as the faculty who work with graduate students, who plan to go on to faculty careers in higher education in disciplines not limited to education.
Activities we plan to pursue this year include:
- Serving as reviewers for relevant submissions to AACE
- Communicating with other SIGs and SITE leadership to complement (and examine) existing structures as we develop and refine our mission and activities
- Continually communicating within our group to share practical models, resources, materials for future faculty development
- Developing and maintaining an online presence facilitate this communication, publicize our mission to SITE membership and to provide a model of online collaboration
- Developing a presentation for SITE 2009 to share our experience in SIG development
Future activities we may explore include:
- Organizing symposia on future faculty training
- Disseminating our SIG’s work beyond SITE at other professional organizations
- Examining opportunities for research and grant support in the area of technology and future faculty development
