The IT Council is a broad and eclectic grouping. That can present both challenges and opportunities. Because members and the committees to which they belong are scattered in interests and geography there are challenges to finding a common focus and the time to engage in conversation. The same characteristics offer opportunities for cross-fertilisation of ideas across areas of interest and location.
As Vice-President and Chair of the IT Council, my hope for this blog site is that it will provide a means to diminish the separation we experience and build a productive conversation around the many topics that interest us.
Two of the committee areas, Digital Storytelling and International Education, already have some activity. I hope that the other committees of the Council, Technology Leadership, Graduate Education & Faculty Development, Distance Education & Web Communities, Equity & Social Justice, Information Technology Integration, Assessment & E-Portfolios, Games & Simulations, and Research & Evaluation, might join us soon.
