EditLib-Book Only-Smallx50Assistive Technologies Papers in LearnTechLib (1,300+)

Welcome to the Assistive Technology SIG. We are very motivated to increase the knowledge and use of assistive technology for special populations. For many years, assistive technology was reserved exclusively for individuals with severe disabilities. Times have changed. More and more people are benefiting from assistive technology. As our population ages, we see many older individuals using assistive technology. Our older population may benefit from the use of simple items like jar openers as well as more sophisticated communication devices. There is an abundance of recent research which supports the use of assistive technology for students who have mild disabilities or learning problems. There are many individuals in our society who can benefit from assistive technology. Please consider joining our group as we explore the many possibilities the Assistive Technology Sig offers.

Assistive Technology Goals

  1. Further the knowledge of assistive technology for school districts, parents, students with disabilities and the population at large.
  2. To provide an opportunity for the exchange of recent research on assistive technology.
  3. To encourage the research and development of assistive technology.
  4. To explore and provide a platform for discussion of effective uses of assistive technology.
