In many ways, technology infusion represents a major shift in the current paradigm of teaching candidates how to teach with technology. For example, the vision of an infused preparation program involves educational technology faculty doing more than teaching candidates about using technology in a stand-alone educational technology course. In fact, a single educational technology course would no longer be considered adequate – technology would need to be addressed at all junctures of a preparation program. This means that all teacher educators would need to commit to sharing the responsibility for supporting teacher candidates to teach with technology (Slykhuis et al., 2020). This also means that the technology integration curriculum would need to expand across all semesters and be implemented in all courses and field experiences. Most importantly, central to preparation design is a focus on best practices in higher education teaching that ensure growth in candidates’ technology self-efficacy.
