TPACK SIG blog

Catalyzed by much interest at the SITE 2007 conference and launched during SITE 2008 by Judi Harris, Matt Koehler, Mario Kelly, and Punya Mishra, the Technology, Pedagogy, and Content Knowledge (TPACK) SIG seeks to bring together researchers, developers, and teacher educators interested in exploring technological pedagogical content knowledge (Mishra & Koehler, 2006) for use in all content areas and educational contexts.

TPACK (technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge, or technological pedagogical content knowledge) is the educator knowledge needed to use technologies effectively in content-curriculum-based teaching and learning.

Current SIG activities:

  • TPACK newsletter
    • Send recent TPACK news items to the editors.
    • Subscribe by sending a blank email message with ‘subscribe tpack.news YourFirstName YourLastName’ in the subject line, substituting your first and last names.
  • TPACK wiki
  • TPACK SIG SIGs: TPACK Research, TPACK Teaching, TPACK Grants, TPACK’s Future
    • Subscribe to each/any/all of the TPACK SIG SIGs’ discussion lists by sending a blank email messagefor each list to which you wish to subscribe, with:
      ‘subscribe tpack.research YourFirstName YourLastName’ OR:
      ‘subscribe tpack.teaching YourFirstName YourLastName’ OR:
      ‘subscribe tpack.grants YourFirstName YourLastName’ OR:
      ‘subscribe tpack.future YourFirstName YourLastName’
…in the subject line, substituting your first and last names for ‘YourFirstName YourLastName.’

Proposed SIG activities:

  • Gathering exemplars of TPACK in practice and making them available via the TPACK wiki
  • Discussing TPACK-related issues, challenges, resources
  • Strategizing for and participating in the continuing development and dissemination of the TPACK framework & exemplars
  • Planning and doing TPACK-related research and development
  • Writing proposals for funding for TPACK-related projects

The SIG’s future activities will be determined by the interests and wishes of its members. Please come to the TPACK SIG meeting at the next SITE conference. Until then, create an account on the TPACK wiki, explore resources of interest to you, and contribute to the quickly-growing TPACK community.
