Face-To Face (F2F) Presentations: F2F Presentations are presented in person at the conference venue.

Virtual Presentations: Select sessions will have the option to present live virtually via Zoom. Presented at a scheduled time from the location of your choice and may be streamed live on AcademicExperts available to all attendees. Learn more about presenting live online here. Brief papers and best practices sessions will be available for live virtual presentation.
Asynchronous Virtual Presentations: Pre-recorded and available to all attendees to view and participate asynchronously during and after the conference. Brief papers, best practices sessions, and posters/demonstrations will be available for asynchronous virtual presentation.
The online and hybrid conference formats 2020 and 2021 truly helped us stay connected to our SITE community and gave us deeply beneficial experiences and while expanding our abilities to showcase much-needed, timely research. For SITE 2023 and beyond, we will begin phasing out the hybrid and live online elements, and returning to fully F2F conferences. In the Fall of 2020, we launched the SITE Interactive Online conference and we plan to continue this as the fully online Fall conference of SITE, held annually and in addition to the Spring F2F event. With the success of the online format, and knowing that many of our attendees still may have reasons they are unable to travel or present F2F, we are excited to offer this online option as an entire conference. If you would still like to participate live online, we recommend submitting for SITE Interactive.

Presentation types will include:

  • Full Papers F2F
  • Brief Papers F2F, Live Virtual or Asynchronous
  • Best Practices F2F, Live Virtual or Asynchronous
  • Panels F2F
  • Roundtables F2F
  • Innovators Playground Exhibits F2F
  • Poster/Demonstrations F2F or Asynchronous
  • Workshops F2F
  • Symposia F2F
  • Asynchronous Virtual Sessions

FULL PAPERS (F2F)

Presentation time: 25 minutes
Submission length: (4–8 pages or 1250–4950 words); an abstract is not sufficient to be evaluated as a Full Paper.
Proceedings length: 6-10 pages

Papers present reports of significant work or integrative reviews in research, development, applications, and societal issues related to all aspects of the conference topics.

A full paper must be based on fully-developed scholarship. A full paper proposal needs to meet both the minimum page/word count length (4–8 pages or 1250–4950 words) as well as address the required components sufficiently for reviewers to make a decision on acceptance. Without sufficient information/fully developed, submissions will not be considered. At a minimum, the following sections must be included in the proposal:
  1. Title (Please note: no author names should be included for the purposes of blind review)
  2. Abstract/keywords
  3. Introduction/study context,
  4. Theoretical or Conceptual Framework (if applicable)
  5. Literature review including rationale/significance of study to the field of teacher education
  6. Methods/research methodology: Identify the type of research (qualitative/quantitative/mixed methods), data sources and collection, analysis methods
  7. Results/findings
  8. Discussion/Implications
  9. References
Boyer defines ‘scholarship’ as the ideas of discovery, application, and integration, involving a lifelong commitment to systematic thinking, questioning, and pursuing a greater understanding of teaching and learning.
Research-in-progress submissions should be submitted as a brief paper, poster, or roundtable.
Boyer, E. (1990). Scholarship reconsidered: Priorities for the professoriate. Princeton, NJ: The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
Research Highlights Book Chapters: A limited number of completed, full papers will be considered for publication as a chapter in the book, Research Highlights in Technology and Teacher Education (RHTTE). Initially, these papers will be selected for consideration using the SITE paper review scores. If selected for consideration, book editors will follow up with author(s) for next steps in the process. The RHTTE book will be published and available in LearnTechLib after the SITE annual conference.

BRIEF PAPERS (F2F, Live Virtual, or Asynchronous/Pre-Recorded)

Presentation time: 15 minutes
Submission length: 2-4 pages
Proceedings length: 4-6 pages

Brief papers may be either work in progress or completed scholarship. A brief paper proposal needs to meet both the minimum page/word count length (2-4 pages or 1250–2500 words) as well as address the required components sufficiently for reviewers to make a decision on acceptance. Without sufficient development as outlined below, submissions will not be considered. At a minimum, the following sections must be included in the proposal:
  1. Title (Please note: no author names should be included for the purposes of blind review)
  2. Abstract/keywords
  3. Introduction/study context,
  4. Theoretical or Conceptual Framework (if applicable)
  5. Literature review including rationale/significance of study to the field of teacher education
  6. Results and/or substantiated conclusions or warrants for arguments/point of view
  7. The scientific or scholarly significance of the study of work.
  8. References

The submission should clearly indicate:

  • what is going to be shown or demonstrated or offered;
  • the major aspects;
  • the context or motivation;
  • relevant URL’s or literature references.

BEST PRACTICES (F2F, Live Virtual, or Asynchronous/Pre-Recorded)

Presentation time: 15 minutes
Submission length: 1-2 pages
Proceedings length: 4-6 pages

Best Practices session presenters discuss and demonstrate their organization’s learning strategies, techniques, issues, solutions, and courseware. This is an opportunity to inform attendees about the lessons learned and future plans from those who have designed, developed, and implemented learning.

PANELS (F2F)

Presentation time: 1 hour
Submission length: 2-6 pages (625 – 1875 words)
Proceedings length: 4-6 pages for each paper

A Panel, consisting of 3 – 5 people (including the chair), present their views on a common theme, issue, or question, and then to discusses them with the audience.

The Panel must present an opportunity for the audience to hear well reasoned arguments and discussions about pertinent topics as seen from a variety of viewpoints. For example, ‘on-line testing’ could be a Panel discussion with panelists presenting arguments in support of, and in opposition to, testing.

Panels must include the audience. Thus, the panelists should take no more than 30, of the total 60 minutes, to make their case and then guide the audience through a discussion and series of questions and answers. In an effort to present differing viewpoints, it is a requirement that panelists can NOT all represent the same institution, research project, or association.

Panel selection will be based on the importance, originality, focus and timeliness of the topic; expertise of proposed panelists; as well as the potential for informative AND controversial discussion.

Panels must allot at least 50% of the time for interaction and discussion with the audience.

The Panel leader should provide an abstract describing the panel and a submission file with the following sections that describe the panel:

  1. introduction that links the theme to the literature and its significance for the field of information technology and teacher education, around 150 word abstracts of each panelists’ perspective,
  2. list of panelists’ perspective titles and authors, with their organizations, and countries in the order they will be presented, and
  3. outline of how the panel will be organized. After acceptance, the Panel coordinator will be given the option to invite Panel authors to submit their papers to a specific web site. Until then, authors should NOT submit their individual papers for the Panel. Contributing authors may choose to publish their papers in the Proceedings as a Full or Brief Paper. The Panel abstract will only appear in the conference Abstract book.

ROUNDTABLES (F2F)

Presentation time: 1 hour
Submission length: 2-6 pages (625 – 1875 words)
Proceedings length: 4-6 pages
AV Provided: WiFi, roundtable

These sessions allow maximum interaction in informal, small-group discussions on a single topic. The format is appropriate for papers, projects, or work-in-progress that encourage discussion. Roundtables typically share a room with 4-6 other concurrently held Roundtables.

If you wish to bring a PC, you could demonstrate a new piece of software, illustrate the process of using it, show participants some of the complexities and tricks about it, and give them an opportunity to try it themselves. However, projection or electrical outlets cannot be provided for these sessions.

Internet (wi-fi) will be provided for all conference session rooms. A screen and projector will not be provided as this is a more informal small group discussion environment not conducive for projecting images from a distance.

These sessions are also appropriate for discussion of instructional strategies, procedures, and evaluation procedures. The idea is not to give a definitive workshop on the topic but to provide participants with enough information to help them decide whether their needs can be met with the program or procedure.

If software is to be discussed, include a description of the software and the objectives of the session.

POSTER / DEMONSTRATIONS (F2F)

Presentation time: 2 hours
Submission proposal length: 2-6 pages (1250- 1875 words)
Proceedings length: 4-6 pages
AV equipment provided: 4’x8′ poster board, 6′ table, 2 chairs (when space/availability allow), WiFi. Electricity only available upon request.

Poster/Demonstration sessions enable researchers and non-commercial developers to demonstrate and discuss their latest results and developments in progress in order to gain feedback and to establish contact with similar projects.

Poster/Demonstration proposals must include:

  • Description of the planned Poster/Demonstration; should emphasize the problem, what was done, and why the work is important

Poster/Demonstration presenters will be required to arrange for their own systems software and hardware.
